Hello!I hope youre having a good week! I've had kind of a rough few weeks, but I'm not here to throw a pity party, lol...I just want to share my new album with you! So, for a while, I was really hesitant to do anything that involved documenting me-my life now or past, my likes/dislikes, etc. At first it seemed like those things were trivial, but i decided i needed something more to work on and I thunk it will be nice to uave these little tidbits about me for L to look through when he gets older. I have my Project 52 album pretty much down to a routine, so I found myself wanting to do more. And then I discovered the Awesome Ladies Project. They have a great series going on right now called 100 Days of All About Me. So i dove in, and while i was about 27 days behind, I am slowly catching up. My plan is to actually do two pages a day until I'm caught up. This has been fun so far because, A. I get to use a new kit I bought :), and B. Sometimes I get caught up in being a mom, fiance, employee, that i just need to be all about me for a second. It's easy to get lost and caught up in all you have to be (or what you think you have to be), than to just remember to do your best and feel satisfied at the end of the day. So, today I'm sharing days 2, 3, 29, 30, and 31. I chose to keep it pretty simple and use mostly the 6x8 size layouts, and I'm using the Modern Edition (it's gorgeous, ya'll), sprinkled with a little bit of the Hello Lovely Edition (also gorgeous!) So, have you done an album like this before? Tell me about it in the comments and enjoy! Peace,
Anne

Hello!Well, did ya'll see the eclipse?? Even though I wasn't in an area of full totality, it was still pretty cool! We had about 80% totality, and while it didn't get completely dark here, the sky did look a little hazy and the temperature dropped 5 degrees. I thought it was pretty amazing knowing that something so cool was going on above the Earth. I didn't have glasses and I was at work all day, so I didn't get to take any cool pics of the shadows or anything, but I watched the live stream on the NASA website and took some cool screen shots. So, of course I had to document the event and I was delighted to see some freebies on a couple blogs that I could use for my page. Recently I downloaded Pixelab and it's awesome! I can finally put .png's on top of photos. For this page, I really wanted to keep it simple and just show off the pictures. For those of you familiar with Ali Edwards, I love her word and quote graphics. Unfortunately, I didn't find anything that really seemed appropriate for this page, but the freebies from Traci Reed Designs worked perfectly. So, really the only thing Project LIfe about this page is the layout! I love that I can utilize other apps and elements now with Pixelab and really enjoyed making this page. And because I got these awesome freebies, I want to share them with you! See links below under my page :) The word graphics are from Traci Reed Designs. You can find those here (and check out some of her other stuff too!):
http://tracireed.com/news/main/ And the cards are from Elle's Studio: https://www.shopellesstudio.com/solar-eclipse-printables.html?category_id=130 Hope you enjoy these as much as I did! Enjoy! Peace, Anne hello! I'm a little behind on sharing my layouts with you all, so I'm just going to keep this short and sweet. We had some crazy weeks in July with vacation and visiting grandparents, so I have some extra layouts to go with my weekly pages. Now that things have calmed down a little, we are settling back into our routine and I'm getting back on track with my Project 52 album. I lost a little motivation after I scrapped a lot during our vacay, but it quickly came back. What do you do when you lose motivation? If you're feeling that way now, I hope this will give you some inspiration to get back to your projects. Enjoy!
Hello! I hope youre having a great day! It's Monday, so I am trying to get into the swing of a new week. Last week our daycare was closed so we had the grandparents watch L. Needless to say, he had a great time with them, and when I took him to daycare this morning, he was not a happy camper! I have to be honest, I don't blame him! So, we will get extra cuddles tonight probably and just try to keep things simple this week. Hopefully we can have a smooth transition back to reality.
Ok, now on to business. So, you all know I am all about the Project Life App to record our memories and scrapbook. Well, as wonderful as this app is, sometimes I find myself looking for more. Therefore, I am sharing some of my favorite apps to use in conjuction with the Project Life App. These are going to be editing apps, and later I will share some apps I use for storage and other things. Lets dig in! -Phonto The one thing that the Project Life app does not have is the ability to add text to pictures (besides overlays). And sometimes you just need that extra something, or maybe just a different font. That's where Phonto comes in. It's very easy to use and has a good selection of fonts and colors. It even has a curve and shadow option. While it is not journaling friendly, I still think this is a great app for adding little touches here and there. See below to see how I have used it. hello! ***this post contains affiliate links*** A cookbook?? In the palm of your hand??? Why, yes! With the Project Life App, of course!
As I talked about in a previous post, my fiancé and I have always talked about "The List"- every time I make a new recipe, we decide if it is good enough to go into rotation, or what we affectionately call, The List. And I knew at some point, I would like to turn that list into a cookbook. I envision myself completing this beautiful cookbook with high quality pictures and wonderful stories, but you kow, life happens, and we don't always have time to do such things. So, how convenient is it that I can throw a few pics and a recipe in a PL layout and when I'm done, I can just print it and start cooking! I would also like this to be nice enough to give to family members and such, so this is the perfect way to do that. Ok, so whats my process? Well, since this is an ever-changing, on-going project, I kind of just go with the flow and as I please. Sometimes I have pictures of the actual food, like say, I make something for a potluck or just cook it at home. Other times, I will just pull pictures off the internet (I know Becky Higgins uses a lot of the Pioneer Woman's pics, because they are gorgeous!), and use those. I'm no professional picture taker, so this way I end up with some good quality, pretty pictures. As for kits, I just use whatever looks good with the food. I'll pull colors from the pictures and then just coordinate from there. Then you just add a card or two for the recipe and then, Voila! Your on your way to cookbook domination! So, for a little inspiration, here are a few of my pages! Hello! I am so excited to share my vacation album with you all!! Lets jump in! So, for this album, I used the Dream Chaser, Dream Chaser Overlays, Explore Edition, and sprinkled in a little of the Bright and Bold kit and the Essentials overlays. I love the all of these kits, but I did find I preferred the look of the Dream Chaser - I only wish it was a larger kit. But what it does have is fabulous and worked really well for a vacation in the woods! The thing I love about the Project Life App is the fact that I almost had all my layouts done by the time I got home! There were a few things that I added after the fact and some pictures that I borrowed from family members, but mostly everything was done on vacation. (Which was hard at times because the forest doesn't care if you need cell phone service or not, lol) I didn't really go into it with a theme or anything, I just scrapped whatever I felt I would like to remember. Of course, taking L out on the lake in the boat for the first time, but also just the everyday moments like family hanging out and enjoying each others company. I plan on printing a photo book for this one. It's fairly small, only about 20 pages, so I am trying out Shutterfly. I have only printed one photo book from them and it was "BPL"-before Project Life, so this will be a learning experience for me. I'll show it to you on another post :) So, here are a few of my pages. Enjoy! Hopefully you're getting the chance to go somewhere awesome this summer! And if you are, hopefully you're documenting your adventures!
Peace, Anne Remember the smell of fireworks as a kid? That metallic, gun powdery smell that filled the air as you held your punk out, listening for the hiss of a spark so you can take off running? That spark made lights glow, pops go boom, and fountains spew. And so it began, the Fourth of July.
I have very fond memories of Independence Day. My parents were always ready to watch my brother and I's firework show-and join in the fun as well. We would go down to the local firework stand on the edge of town and load up. I always had to get a fountain or two, my brother got the typical black cat fireworks (and some tanks too), and my dad would pick up morning glories for my mom. Then we would run home and wait impatiently for the sun to start going down. We had a few stages for our shows - the backyard, driveway, front yard, and of course, the road out in front of our house. That's the thing about small towns, you can shoot off fireworks in town, just make sure you drive through town slowly and wait for the roman candles to finish before crossing the street. I can still see my dad bending down with a cigarette in his mouth, helping to keep my hand steady as we celebrated the holiday that signifies so much for our country. And when we finally blasted through our goodies, we would settle down and watch the big fireworks show. Sitting in our lawn chairs, eating homemade popcorn or popsicles, waiting for each colorful boom and saying at each one, "Ohhhh, Awwww." Eventually I will teach L to light fireworks and hopefully he will love the holiday as much as I do. For the past couple years we have celebrated with our friends, and this year was so much fun as our babies are older and can all play together. I ended up completing a two page spread for this years festivities. I used the Bright & Bold, School Themed Cards, Essential Overlays - White, and Just Add Color Overlay kits. Enjoy! So, while I love doing the Project 52 album, I also find myself wanting to do more with Project Life and documenting things. Since I'm not in the position right now to do any catch up on my old photos (which I hope to do later), I am trying to incorporate little projects here and there into my memory keeping. I noticed on June 20th, that Ali Edwards was doing a "day in the life" project. The one thing that always held me back from doing this type of documenting was the fact that if it falls during the week, I am at work most of the day, so I thought that may be boring. And I was concerned about the investment of time to put into it. Well, I have to say, it was not as time consuming as I thought it would be! And, yes, most of my day was spent at work, but isn't that the point? To celebrate the everyday moments and goings-on. I wouldn't be true to myself (which is a concept I try to stay close to when memory keeping) if I wasn't honest.
So, my process was to take a picture every hour and then post to Instagram with a little bit of journaling as the caption. This kept it very simple and I had all my pictures in one place which was awesome and made for an easier time when I put them into my layouts. I started at 7am and went through 2pm. I decided at that point I should probably focus on work for a few hours :) Then I picked back up at 5pm and stopped at 8pm. I did not do 9pm because that is bedtime and I wanted to keep that time to spend with family. Some people set alarms on the hour, but I didn't worry about that - I just kept it free and easy, no pressure. I tried to take some photos from different perspectives and I feel this was a good way to experiment with the camera timer and angles. I really enjoyed it and I would definitely suggest trying it! As for putting my photos together, I used the Big Shot 7 and Squared Away 15 for my layouts with the Midnight Edition and Project 52 Fresh Edition kits. I also used my Phonto app to add the title to the 1st page. So, here is the final product - Enjoy! Well, we are almost halfway through the year. I can't believe it! People tell me all the time to enjoy motherhood because it goes fast....and let me tell you, it does. I am enjoying this phase that L is in. He is conversing in his own little toddler language and reading A LOT. The boy loves his books! Which makes this bookworm mama happy. Anyway, here are weeks 22-25. Enjoy! Thank you for stopping by! I will have some new pages coming after our vacation to Eureka Springs next week-I'm so excited! Stay tuned!
Peace, Anne A few years ago, M and I ate something for dinner that we just loved. And we thought, what if we recorded all the recipes we enjoy??? So, we tried to remember all the meals we liked, and from then on, they became known as "The List".
*cue dramatic music* Anyway, I have seen people put together recipe books using Project Life, so I decided I should go for it! Over the weekend, I made one of our favorites, Dorito Casserole. This recipe came from a little recipe book I picked up at the grocery store that was published by Taste of Home. It's actually called Southwestern Turkey Casserole, but I make it with chicken and Dorito Casserole is more fun to say :) So, here you go, the first recipe in "The List"! Also, make this soon, it's delicious! Peace, Anne |
